Cute Credit Crunch?

I was under the impression that we were in the middle of a "credit crunch", but apparently that hasn't hit the Hello Kitty credit card yet.

Cable's Dirty Little Secret

I'm thrilled to see this deception coming to light. Cable companies are using the confusion surrounding the over-the-air digital transition as a convenient scapegoat to moving their analog channels to the digital tiers. They are doing this because the bandwidth hogging analog channels are using precious space that they could be using for HD digital channels. The move makes sense from a business perspective, but they should be honest about their motivations and give discounts to those on analog cable packages who are losing common cable channels, as well as bringing down the price of the lower end digital packages which have the same channels as the analog packages, but at 10-20% higher prices plus digital cable box rental fees.

iPhones -> Divorce!

The whole article is a good read, but the best part was when the wife was asked what the "smutty picture" was of:

"Well, if you must know ... it was a close-up shot of him pleasuring himself taken at the exact moment of maximum pleasure. (I'm trying to remain G-rated here.) It's such a good shot that one must wonder if he actually practiced it a few times before getting it right! Add that picture to the late night phone calls and some other miscellaneous texts and e-mails that I found ... and this is not the first woman ... and let's just say that my atty is working on the divorce complaint. Nonetheless, I wanted to remain open to the possibility that it was all some big mistake (I think that he is the big mistake) and thank everyone who provided input on this discussion."

If you enjoy David Sedaris, or are puzzled by undecided voters (or both!), then you'll want to read this short essay from the New Yorker.

Help Al Franken win MN Senate seat!

Al Franken is currently in a recount for a Senate seat in MN.  Out of over 3,000,000 votes cast, he and his opponent are within 437 votes of each other.

Franken's campaign is raising money to monitor the recount effort.  I think Al Franken is a great guy and a true progressive.  Please consider donating to this recount effort.
